Dabei kann es sich beispielsweise um eine Sammlung von Fotos, Videos, Karten, Finanzkennzahlen oder Enzyklopädieartikeln handeln.
Die Daten für die Kollektionen können aus dem Internet zusammengestellt werden. Letztendlich ist eine Kollektion lediglich eine Gruppe gleicher Objekte, die in einer XML-Datei beschrieben werden, ergänzt um entsprechende Bilder in Microsofts Deepzoom-Format. Einfache Kollektionen können aus bis zu 3.000 Objekten bestehen, die alle auf einmal geladen werden. Größere Sammlungen bestehen dann aus einfach oder mehrfach verknüpften Einzelkollektionen.
